Community Inclusion Day: Wheelchair Basketball for More Inclusion

Open Participation Event at the Munich Sports Festival 2025

Under the motto “Inclusion through Movement,” the RBB Iguanas invited all interested individuals and long-time fans of the “greatest sport in the world” to experience and try out wheelchair basketball up close — right in the heart of Munich, at Königsplatz, on July 6, 2025.

A Huge Success – Over 100 Participants and a Powerful Statement for Inclusion in Action!

The event was filled with a vibrant festival atmosphere throughout the day: people of all ages – with and without disabilities – came together, gave wheelchair basketball a try, competed in small 3×3 tournaments, or simply enjoyed the lively spirit of the day. With more than 100 participants, the action was a true highlight of the Munich Sports Festival.

Our goal of making inclusion in sports visible and tangible truly came to life. It was a space of connection, openness, and mutual inspiration.

What Was Happening On-Site:

  • Open wheelchair basketball court (no registration required)
  • Supervision and guidance by experienced players
  • Mini-tournaments for kids and adults
  • DJ, interviews & live content
  • Interactive activities focused on inclusion
  • Plenty of encounters, new perspectives, and joyful energy

Thank You to Everyone Who Joined!

Whether young or old, with or without prior experience – you made this day something special. Together, we showed how inclusion th

rough movement can work: accessible, playful, and full of passion.

A heartfelt thank-you to all supporters, helpers, and visitors – and to everyone who helped spread the word, invited others, and contributed by simply being there.
