The Bauhaus-Archive opens its doors for a Special Festival: “Come to the Construction Site!”
After several years of closure, the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung in Berlin will reopen its doors to the public in September 2025 – with a remarkable prelude. The festival “Bauhaus-Archiv – Come to the Construction Site!” invites visitors to experience the striking architecture of the new museum building by Staab Architekten up close.
A Three-Day Festival on the Museum Construction Site
From 19 to 21 September 2025, the construction site at Klingelhöferstraße 14 will be transformed into an open space for encounters and inspiration. The free festival features architectural tours, music, talks, artistic installations, performances, and workshops for families. The site itself becomes a stage for creativity and dialogue – offering diverse insights into the past, present, and future of the Bauhaus legacy.
Admission is free. Time-slot tickets will be available online from late summer at bauhaus.de
Festival Finale at the Berlin Philharmonie
On 21 September, the festival concludes with two special events at the Berlin Philharmonie:
4:00 PM: Moderated concert “From Bauhaus to Broadway” with Michal Friedländer and Kai Hinrich Müller (Kammermusiksaal, free admission, registration via berlinerfestspiele.de)
7:00 PM: World premiere of the opera “Parabola & Circula” by Marc Blitzstein, performed by the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra (Sweden). An introductory event begins at 6:10 PM in the South Foyer (Tickets are available via berlinerfestspiele.de)
Where Architecture Meets History
The new building by Volker Staab embodies innovation and contemporary aesthetics. In dialogue with the historic, listed structure by Walter Gropius, the ensemble forms a compelling architectural statement that bridges the past and future of the Bauhaus-Archiv.
Our Role in the Pre-Opening of the Bauhaus-Archive
As a project partner, we are responsible for the conceptual and organizational planning of the festival. In close coordination with the Bauhaus-Archiv, we oversee the entire execution of this unique event. Our goal: to create a festival that honors the Bauhaus legacy and offers visitors an inspiring and memorable experience.
An Experience for Fans of Architecture, Design, and Culture
The festival is aimed at a broad audience – from architecture enthusiasts and design lovers to families and those interested in cultural policy. It offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at one of Berlin’s most significant museum projects and invites all to experience the Bauhaus-Archiv from a fresh perspective.
