Yoga Tour in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh 2019: Our impressions

It was a 9-day yoga trip to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh full of cultural immersion. One could hardly list all the experience or sum up the main treasures of this adventure: Armenia is too amazing and varied. Practicing yoga helped to clear our inner space for the impressions of the trip, calm the mind and harmonize body and spirit. With warmly welcoming hosts, all-knowing tour guides, fresh and tasty food and fantastic views, the participants forgot their fatigue and the length of the route taken. All the descriptions might be endless, but we better start planning the new adventure tour. The pictures and reports of the participants speak for themselves!

First of all, I was captivated by the mountains. I have never seen mountains of that kind. It was gorgeous. Tatev monastery, Nagorny Karabakh. It was great to travel by car, and we traveled a lot each day.  It was a perfect mixture: we had yoga classes in the morning, then a journey to some hotspots or just hiking through landscapes and in the evening it was the party time – so it ended up as a wonderful unity with people and nature.

The organization was perfect. Maybe, we caught the flow, that made everything right: the mixture of culture and landscapes, our routs, people we met on our way. I was in tune with yoga practice, Liana as the instructor gave good input, some techniques were new for me. In particular, kundalini yoga gave me a very interesting and thrilling experience and I am glad that I went for it. I got a lot of impressions, switched off from the noise in the mind.

I have too many impressions and all of them have been great! It was cool to start a new day with yoga, the practice was just perfect, Liana is a very good teacher. But the mountains are the first thing that comes into my mind. We escaped from civilization, even while we had comfort, we stepped back from the city rush. It was such a thrilling experience to find an abandoned church or to meet a hermit.… For me, it was like a long long day with many impressions. I’d like to stay longer in some places, i.e. in the observatory Zorats Karer, and visit more places in Nagorny Karabakh.

And the main finding was “spas“ – a yogurt’s soup.

It was not my first trip to Armenia. I chose this tour because of yoga and because there were some places in the program I did not visit before. In daily life, my physical activity is usually low. The yoga classes on the tour were perfect for me. In the beginning, it was quite challenging, but then I warmed up somehow, the regularity helped me. It is the best beginning of the day when you start each day with a yoga practice. I hope not to lose this impulse and continue practicing when I come back home.

I really loved Karabakh and the adventures we had in its capital Stepanakert. I’ve never been to places where something like this was possible. I even thought that it could be great to live in such a place where you can ask the direction by the policemen on the street in the night and they bring you in their car to the place you needed. I’d like to come back to Nagorny Karabakh and stay longer, and also visit the village nearTatev, where the women knit the wool carpets. I’d also like to come to some events we were told about like football championship and wine festival. Maybe I could camp here. I will come back to Armenia. That’s for sure.
